{NEWS} A K-Pop Sensation Plays Letterman

Girls’ Generation is performing on CBS’s “The Late Show With David Letterman” tonight, the latest inroad by K-pop into the U.S. market.


Girls' Generation has its sights set on the U.S. as its fame grows beyond Asia and K-pop fans.


The nine-piece pop act, which already plays to packed concert venues around Asia, will sing an English-language version of their male-baiting single “The Boys,” which was co-written by Teddy Riley, famed for his work with Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown and Usher.
While Girls’ Generation has played in the U.S. before, the TV appearance marks a new level of mainstream American exposure for the group, and Korean pop in general, as its world-wide audience grows.


SM, which manages Girls’ Generation, organized a Madison Square Garden concert in October that sold out. In November, Big Bang, a boy band, took the “World Wide Act” award at MTV’s Europe Music Awards, while MTV Iggy, which focuses on music from outside the U.S., named Korean group 2NE1 its “Best New Band in the World.” JYP, the agency that works with the Wonder Girls, is set to break a Teen Nick made-for-TV movie, starring the girl band, in February.


While a Letterman appearance will surely boost Girls’ Generation’s recognition stateside, the telegenic group has a strong global following — one video, “Gee,” has more than 64 million views on YouTube. “These girls are sexy enough to open the floodgates for the Korean wave with this performance,” says Billboard’s East Asia correspondent Rob Schwartz.


Several members hail from the U.S. — Jessica, Tiffany and Sunny (they only go by their first names) were all born in California, giving them another advantage as they make the media rounds.
“We definitely want to sing in English,” said Tiffany, during a summer concert headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Japan. “We need to be nine Beyonces.”

{INTEREST} Taeyeon, Seohyun new MC of Music Core

Music Core's MC/Tiffany partner still left open until now since Yuri departure. However, Music Core seem like has found its new MC to host their weekly Music Core programme and they had revealed it today. Yes, it's none other than our lovely kid leader 'Taeyeon' & maknae 'Seohyun' and together with Tiffany to host the show. Just like 3 emcee in Inkigayo "IU, Nicole & Hara", Music Core will have three MC as well ^^ can't wait to watch it this week ^^. Stay tune ~

Next, Sunny will feature on B.E.G 'Miryo' new song which composed by Kim SeonWoo. The new song called "  사랑해 사랑해/Saranghae Saranghae (Feat. 써니_소녀시대/Sunny).
It's remind me of a phrase " Languages create boundary but music makes a boundary-less world and keeps people of the globe together,” ^^ , can't wait to listen to full release of this song.

Without any Promotional Activities, Girls’ Generation Ranked the 2nd on Billboard ‘World Albums’ Chart and 22nd on ‘Heatseekers Albums’ Chart! 

Girls’ Generation left for New York to appear on America’s main talk shows and have an interview with local media.

As the first Korean artist, Girls’ Generation will perform ‘The Boys’ on CBS ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ on January 31st and ABC ‘LIVE! with Kelly' on February 1st. 

Especially, the music segment producer of ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ said, “We decided to cast Girls’ Generation because we think that Girls’ Generation is an attractive and uniquely distinctive group and we are very glad that Girls’ Generation has decided to make the first debut in the U.S. network by appearing on ‘Late Show With David Letterman.’”

Girls’ Generation will also have an interview with one of the top four press agencies in the world ‘AP’ and a famous entertainment news program 'Extra TV.’ 

Moreover, Girls’ Generation ranked the 2nd on Billboard ‘World Albums’ chart (February 4th) and 22nd on ‘Heatseekers Albums’ chart which charts albums from new or developing artists. The appearance of Girls’ Generation on America’s public TV shows and other promotional activities will increase the expectation for what Girls’ Generation will achieve in the U.S. 

Meanwhile, CBS ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ will be aired on January 31st at 11:35 p.m. and ABC 'LIVE! with Kelly' on February 1st at 9:00 a.m. and Girls’ Generation will return to Korea within this week after they finish their promotions in the U.S.

Girls’ Generation ended their first solo concert in Hong Kong with great success. 

‘2012 GIRLS’ GENERATION TOUR in HONGKONG’ was held at Asia World-Arena on the 15th at 8:00 p.m. and Girls’ Generation fascinated the audiences with fantastic performances.

Especially, even though it was late at night when Girls’ Generation arrived at Hong Kong International Airport on the 14th, many fans gathered at the airport to see Girls’ Generation. And also, local media such as ‘Oriental Daily,’ ‘Apple Daily,’ ‘I-cable,’ etc. attended the press conference which was held before the concert began. 

Starting with ‘Genie,’ Girls’ Generation presented a total of 32 performances including ‘Mr.Taxi,' ‘Oh!,’ ‘Gee,’ ‘The Boys,’ etc. and each member’s unit stages. 

Also, the audiences prepared a surprise event for Girls’ Generation by holding up papers saying ‘you+me=complete’ while Girls’ Generation was performing ‘Complete.’ In addition, when the stage of ‘Fantastic’ was over, fans flew their pink balloons which covered the venue in pink.   

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will hold ‘GIRLS’ GENERATION TOUR’ in Thailand on February 12th.

소녀시대가 홍콩 첫 단독 콘서트를 성황리에 마쳤다.

소녀시대는 지난 15일 오후 8시부터 홍콩 Asia World-Arena에서 열린 ‘2012 GIRLS’ GENERATION TOUR in HONGKONG’을 열고 환상적인 퍼포먼스와 무대 연출이 어우러진 다채로운 공연으로 홍콩 관객들을 매료시켰다.

특히, 이번 공연을 위해 입국한 소녀시대 멤버들을 보기 위해 14일, 홍콩 국제 공항에는 늦은 시간(밤 11시 30분경)임에도 불구하고 수 많은 팬들이 운집해 인산인해를 이루었으며, 15일, 공연에 앞서 진행된 기자회견 역시 동방일보, 빈과일보, I-cable 등 현지 언론매체들이 대거 참석, 열띤 취재경쟁을 벌이기도 해, 소녀시대의 뜨거운 인기를 실감케 했다.

이날 ‘소원을 말해봐’로 콘서트의 포문을 연 소녀시대는 ‘Mr.Taxi’, ‘Oh!’, ‘Gee’, ‘The Boys’ 등의 히트곡 무대를 비롯해 아홉 멤버 각각의 매력을 느낄 수 있는 개별 무대까지 총 32곡의 다채로운 무대를 선사해 관객들의 폭발적인 호응을 얻었다.

또한 홍콩 관객들은 소녀시대를 위해 깜짝 이벤트도 준비, ‘Complete’ 무대에서 ‘you+me=complete’ 메시지가 적힌 종이를 펼쳐 보여 소녀시대를 감동시켰으며, 엔딩곡 ‘Fantastic' 무대가 끝난 후에는 소녀시대의 상징색인 핑크색 풍선을 하늘로 날려 공연장을 온통 핑크 빛으로 물들이는 장관을 연출, 현장의 열기를 최고조로 이끌었다는 후문이다.

한편, 소녀시대는 오는 2월 12일 태국에서 ‘GIRLS’ GENERATION TOUR’를 이어나갈 예정이다.
